Birthday Freebies: The Verified 2026 List
The birthday freebies that are still real as of October 11, 2026, checked against each program’s own terms page, are Starbucks, Chipotle, Auntie Anne’s, Cinnabon, Jamba, Krispy Kreme, Sephora and Ulta. Every one of them needs a free rewards account with your birthday on it, and most need it on file before your birthday or your birthday month. Two famous ones, Baskin-Robbins and Dunkin’, now promise only a vague “birthday reward” that may be a discount. Denny’s and IHOP are off the verified list this month because their terms pages wouldn’t load. The table below has the rules, and the sections after it have the fine print.

“Not stated” means the program’s own page doesn’t say, not that the answer is no. Check the reward in the app before you count on it.
Starbucks: the strictest rules on the list Verified October 2026
Starbucks’ Rewards terms, effective March 10, 2026, give members “one (1) complimentary handcrafted beverage OR one (1) complimentary food item, OR one (1) complimentary ready-to-drink bottled beverage.” To qualify, “you must join Starbucks Rewards at least seven (7) days prior to your birthday, provide your birthday in your account information, and make at least one Star-earning transaction prior to your birthday each year.”
The redemption window is where people lose it. Green members get the reward “valid only on that date,” Gold members get seven days and Reserve members thirty. The full set of traps, including why a card reload doesn’t count as that purchase, is in my Starbucks birthday drink guide.
Food and drink: verified this month Verified October 2026
Chipotle. The Chipotle Rewards page says members “can choose one birthday reward during their birthday month—pick from chips, guac, queso, or a drink.” It’s a side, not an entrée, but it’s a real choice and you get the whole month to use it.
Auntie Anne’s. Auntie Anne’s Rewards promises “a Pretzel On Us for your birthday!” with one condition in the same line: “Must make at least one purchase annually to qualify.” That’s the Starbucks rule in a smaller form. If you only go to the mall twice a year, make sure one of those trips falls before your birthday.
Cinnabon. Cinnabon Rewards offers “a Cold Brew On Us* for your birthday!” The asterisk leads to “Terms and conditions apply. See reward for details.” It’s a drink, not a cinnamon roll, which surprises people who joined for the roll.
Jamba. Jamba Rewards says members “get a free birthday smoothie.” The page doesn’t print a redemption window, so claim it early in your birthday week rather than late.
Krispy Kreme. A correction. Earlier versions of this page said Krispy Kreme gives three free Original Glazed doughnuts. Its Rewards page now promises only “a sweet birthday gift,” and its FAQ says “Members receive a birthday reward on the birthday listed in their account. Birthday rewards are valid for 30 days from the date they are issued.” That 30-day window is the most generous on this list. What the reward actually is isn’t stated, so I’ve stopped promising a doughnut count.

Beauty counter Verified October 2026
Sephora. Sephora’s Beauty Insider page says joining gets you “a birthday gift set on us,” and the offer reads “Beauty Insiders Get a FREE Birthday Gift Set,” with the instruction to “come back during your birthday month to redeem.” Its footnote: “Free in store. Spend $25+ to redeem online. Terms apply.” The free tier qualifies, so the in-store route is a genuine no-purchase freebie. Sephora’s dedicated birthday-gift page, which lists this year’s sets, would not load for me on October 11, so the lineup isn’t printed here.
Ulta. Ulta’s rewards terms are the clearest on the list. “All Members are eligible to receive a birthday gift each year, while supplies last,” once per calendar year, during the birthday month, if you have “a valid email or mobile app, and their birthday entered in their Account profile.” In store: “No purchase is necessary when redeeming your birthday gift in store.” For pickup, online or app orders, a merchandise purchase “subtotaling greater than $0 is required.” Members also earn double points on purchases in their birthday month. Ulta’s birthday page adds the timing rule: “Make sure you’ve added your birthday to your profile before your birthday month.” Its footnote also requires you to be opted in to Ulta’s marketing messages before that month (checked October 23, 2026). “While supplies last” matters here. Go in the first week of your birthday month, not the last.
Not worth the signup hassle Verified October 2026
These programs still advertise a birthday perk, but their own terms don’t promise a freebie. If you already use the app, keep it. If you’d be signing up just for the birthday, skip it.
Baskin-Robbins. The famous free birthday scoop is no longer what the terms promise. The Baskin-Robbins terms of use say a Birthday Club member who has given a birthday and opted in to emails “will receive an email coupon for free product or a product discount at Dunkin’ Brands’ discretion.” A free product or a discount, at the company’s choice, isn’t a freebie you can plan on. The rewards page leads with a different offer: “a Free Scoop after your first qualified purchase,” which is a purchase-gated sign-up bonus.
Dunkin’. Dunkin’s rewards page advertises “birthday rewards” and “Get a birthday bonus” without saying what either is. A bonus on points you earn by buying coffee is a discount, not a freebie. Check the app’s terms before you count on anything free.
Couldn’t verify this month
These were on this list in July. Both terms pages served a bot-check page instead of their terms on October 11, so neither carries a stamp this month:

That doesn’t mean they’ve ended. It means I can’t confirm today’s rules, and this site doesn’t list what it can’t confirm. They’ll go back on the verified list when their pages load.
The pattern behind all of them
Every verified entry above shares three mechanics. Join early: seven days minimum for Starbucks, and before the month starts for the birthday-month programs. Put your real birthdate on the account once and leave it alone. Route everything to a dedicated freebies email so the year of marketing between birthdays stays out of your real inbox. FAQ: birthday freebies
How far in advance do I need to sign up for birthday freebies?
At least seven days before your birthday for Starbucks, and before the month starts for programs that pay out during your birthday month, like Ulta and Chipotle. Ulta says to add your birthday “before your birthday month.” Doing all your sign-ups five to six weeks ahead covers every program here.
Which birthday freebies need no purchase?
Ulta and Sephora are free in store, and Ulta’s terms say so outright. Starbucks and Auntie Anne’s each need one purchase earlier in the year. Chipotle, Jamba and Krispy Kreme don’t say on their pages, so check the reward in the app.
Does Baskin-Robbins still give a free birthday scoop?
Not reliably. Its terms promise an email coupon “for free product or a product discount at Dunkin’ Brands’ discretion,” so you may get a discount instead.
Why did a birthday freebie from another list not work for me?
Usually one of three reasons: you joined too close to your birthday, you hadn’t made the purchase some programs require, or the list was reprinting an offer that has changed. Baskin-Robbins’ free scoop is the clearest example: the terms now allow a discount instead.
