Halloween Freebies 2026: Verified Costume Deals and Events

As of October 11, 2026, two national Halloween offers for kids are confirmed on the brands’ own pages. Chuck E. Cheese gives every child in costume 500 free bonus tickets on each October visit, and its Boo-tacular runs through November 1. Wendy’s sells $1 Boo! Books with five free Jr. Frosty coupons inside, which is a cheap buy rather than a freebie. Most of the famous costume freebies, Krispy Kreme’s doughnut among them, are still not on the brands’ own pages for 2026. Here’s what’s verified, what isn’t, and how to catch the rest.

Chuck E. Cheese Boo-tacular: free tickets in costume Verified October 2026

Chuck E. Cheese announced its 2026 Boo-tacular on October 1, running at fun centers nationwide “now through Nov. 1.” The free part is the costume reward: “Kids that come in their spookiest costumes automatically get 500 free tickets to add to their haul, every time they visit this October.” The release calls them Bonus Tickets for the Prize Wall.

Read the rest of the offer carefully, because only the tickets are free:

  • The 30 free Play Points need a purchase. The coupon gives 30 Play Points “with a purchase of 60 or more points.” That’s a bonus on spending, not a freebie.
  • The Boo-Meal Deal is a meal deal. It starts “at just $34.99,” dine-in only.
  • The nightly Haunted House Party runs “every night in October,” with dancing “every hour from 6 p.m. until close.” The release doesn’t put a price on watching, so ask at your center before you count it as free.

So the honest version is: free tickets for dressing up, while the games that earn more tickets cost money. For a kid who loves the Prize Wall, a costume visit is a nice bonus on a trip you were making anyway.

A second Chuck E. Cheese freebie, also purchase-gated: its printable Good Behavior Calendar earns “10 FREE Play Points” after two full weeks of check-offs, but the fine print says it “must be redeemed at the time of checkout with a food purchase,” and it expires 12/31/26. Verified October 2026

Wendy’s Boo! Books: $1, five free Frostys Verified October 2026

Wendy’s Boo! Books are back. Each $1 book “comes with 5 FREE Jr. Frosty® treats, plus a coupon for a $1.99 Wendy’s Kids’ Meal® with purchase.” The fine print, from Wendy’s own FAQ:

  • On sale August 31 to November 1, 2026, at participating US Wendy’s, “while supplies last,” in restaurant, drive-thru, kiosk, app or online.
  • Redeem in person “on or before 12/31 of the year in which the Boo! Books coupon book was purchased.” App orders don’t count, and the coupons can’t be combined with other offers.
  • “No purchase is necessary to redeem your treat.”
  • “90¢ of every book sold” supports the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.

Under this site’s rules, anything you pay for isn’t a freebie, so this one is filed honestly: a $1 donation that comes with five desserts. As cheap Halloween treats go, five Frostys for a dollar is about as good as it gets, and they last until New Year’s Eve.

Not confirmed yet (as of October 11)

These are the offers people search for that I could not confirm on a brand’s own page today. None of them is listed as live.

  • Krispy Kreme. Its Halloween page now shows the Looney Tunes Halloween doughnuts, on sale “10/6/26 through 10/31/26” at participating shops. Neither that page nor Krispy Kreme’s October 5 press release for the collection mentions a free doughnut for wearing a costume. News coverage reports one on Friday, October 30 and Saturday, October 31. Those weekdays do fit 2026’s calendar, but I couldn’t find the offer on a Krispy Kreme page as of October 11, so it isn’t listed as live. A quick calendar check: October 31, 2026 falls on a Saturday. If a page describes a costume doughnut on “Friday, Oct. 31,” it is describing 2025, relabelled.
  • Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s. Their in-store Halloween event is widely covered, but both retailers’ event pages refused to load on October 7 and again on October 11, and the listings I found carry no year, so there are no dates here.
  • Lowe’s Kids Workshop. Lowe’s Kids Club page loaded on October 11 and says its free workshops are “held once a month, typically on the third Saturday,” which would be October 17. It doesn’t name October’s project or confirm the date, so check the registration screen before you plan around a Halloween build.

Floating offers like these are usually announced two to four weeks out, the same pattern covered in national free food days. The reliable way to catch them is the brand’s own app or email list, not a roundup. This page will be updated as they’re confirmed.

Free Halloween events for kids

Some of the best Halloween freebies aren’t offers at all. I don’t list individual trunk-or-treats, mall events or local festivals, because they’re venue-by-venue and change every year. A national list of them would be out of date by the time you drove there. These are the national, repeatable routes:

The Teal Pumpkin Project map. FARE’s Teal Pumpkin Project is free to use: households add themselves to a map, “so kids looking for non-food treats can plan their routes.” It was built for kids with food allergies, and it works for any family that wants fewer sweets in the bag. FARE says the map had “over 12,500 locations and 91 events” in 2024, with listings in all 50 states. Verified October 2026 If you’re joining from the other side of the door, the bowl just needs non-food treats. A bulk pack of JOYIN glow sticks, which clip into bracelets and necklaces, is one easy option, and it doubles as visibility for walkers.

Home Depot Kids Workshops. Home Depot’s workshops page still reads “FREE IN-STORE KIDS WORKSHOPS,” held at “9 a.m. the First Saturday of Every Month. While Supplies Last.” Verified October 2026 October’s fell on October 3, so the next is November 7. The full rundown, ages and registration are in free kids workshops.

Your library. Library Halloween story times and costume parades are some of the most reliable free events in October, and they’re listed in your system’s own event calendar. What else the card unlocks is in library freebies.

For the night itself, Betteroo’s Halloween safety checklist covers costumes, candy checks for small children and keeping bedtime roughly intact.

How to tell a real Halloween freebie from a recycled one

Halloween is the worst season for copied-forward lists. One quick check catches most of them:

  1. Find the brand’s own page or press release dated this year. A deal blog is a pointer, never the source.
  2. Check the weekday. Offers are announced with day names, and a mismatch is a giveaway (see Krispy Kreme above).
  3. Read what “free” requires. A coupon that needs a purchase, an app sign-up that asks for a card number, or a “free costume” that charges shipping fails this site’s test. The full checklist is in freebie scams.

FAQ: Halloween freebies

Does Krispy Kreme give free doughnuts on Halloween 2026?

Not on Krispy Kreme’s own pages as of October 11, 2026. Its Halloween page sells Looney Tunes doughnuts through October 31 and mentions no costume offer, though news coverage reports one on October 30 and 31. Any page quoting a “Friday, Oct. 31” date is using 2025’s calendar, since Halloween 2026 is a Saturday.

What does Chuck E. Cheese give kids in costume?

500 free bonus tickets on every visit in October, for the Prize Wall, during its Boo-tacular, which runs through November 1, 2026. The bonus Play Points offer requires buying 60 or more points.

Are Wendy’s Boo! Books free?

No. Each book costs $1 and holds five coupons for a free Jr. Frosty, plus a $1.99 Kids’ Meal coupon with purchase. The Frosty coupons need no purchase to redeem, and they’re good in person through December 31 of the year you bought the book.

What free Halloween events are there for kids?

The repeatable ones are national: the Teal Pumpkin Project map of non-food trick-or-treat houses, Home Depot’s free first-Saturday workshops, and your library’s October events. Trunk-or-treats and festivals are local, so check your town’s own calendar.
