If I could sum up my red carpet experience in one word it would be “WOW”. That’s all I could think…

I joined 24 other bloggers along with two amazing Disney reps as we headed to the red carpet premiere of Oz: The Great & Powerful. Me. ME!! Here’s how my evening went:

Mommy Bloggers take over the stairs to Dolby Theatre – just across from El Capitan
Got dressed up and headed to meet the rest of the wonderful bloggers in the lobby of the gorgeous Langham Huntington Pasadena Hotel. From there we took a shuttle to the El Capitan Theatre and walked the red carpet among the celebs and industry bigwigs. We saw the movie (which is incredible and opens nationwide March 8th) and set out to party at Lure Nightclub in Hollywood. Dream come true? Why yes, yes it was…

I was interviewed by my fellow bloggers about my experience:

Is this your first red carpet walk?
Yes! This was my very first time. Growing up in Orange County and being so close to Hollywood I had always wanted to go to a red carpet event, but never had the opportunity to. Thanks to my blog and Disney I got this chance of a lifetime!

What were your thoughts/impressions of El Capitan Theatre?
El Capitan Theatre is MASSIVE! The biggest theatre I have been to by far. I loved the architecture and how Disney restored the theatre to what it once was back in 1926. It’s spectacular. And since it’s Disney-owned, there are “Hidden Mickeys” that Enza from Enza’s Bargains and I were hunting for while we were waiting for the film to start. The theatre itself is bigger than life and it was so much to take in. Truly spectacular.
Did you find any Hidden Mickeys?
We did!! a couple were obvious – like the Mickey Pretzels at the concession stand. We found one on the ceiling too – plus if you look at one of the walls at a certain angle the designs make Mickey Mouse symbols! I know there are more though.

What did you wear?
I wore a gorgeous black lace dress from Maggy London. I bought it at Nordstom Rack and it was perfect. I paired the dress with black tights and stiletto booties (from Target!) that had some sparkle to them. I added a dark green belt – for the Emerald City of course – and a cute mustache ring - under $1 right now - because James Franco has one in the film. My nails were painted with O.P.I. “What Wizardry Is This?” with my ring finger painted in Hoch (a dark green) by Julep.
How did you decide on what to wear for the event?
I knew I wanted to go black. Since I have a lot of pink in my hair I was worried about a color clashing. I also wanted to go lace because: A) lace packs well in a suitcase and B) I wanted a hint of Wicked Witch!
What was it like being one of the first people to see this movie, right alongside with the stars themselves?
It was amazing! I found out afterward that most of the actors hadn’t seen it put together until that night either, so it was a big honor. I am dying to talk about it but I don’t want to spoil the surprises in the film. You will have to see it though – it’s an amazing film.

What was your most memorable experience while on the red carpet… did something really stand out?
Seeing the Oz hot air balloon from way down the street was surreal. That’s when it really hit me – we were part of this elite group that had a chance to be a part of this grand event. As we walked up to the red carpet (which was actually a yellow brick road!) we passed by Mann’s Chinese Theatre, Dolby Theatre (Oscars take place there!), and Jimmy Kimmel’s studio. While I had been there tons of times as a kid and teenager, I had never been while something big was going on – and this was a huge event.
Did you see any of the stars on the red carpet?
YES!! That was awesome – we came up to the carpet right as Rachel Weisz (Evanora) was preparing to walk down. She was stunning in a tangerine Victoria Beckham gown with Lanvin accessories. She looked flawless. We also saw Michelle Williams (Glinda) in her now famous Prada dress with the slit up-to-there. Just down from Michelle was Mila Kunis (Theodora). Her waist was absolutely TINY in her Dolce & Gabanna tulle dress. She looked amazing. I also saw Zach Braff (Finley) getting interviewed by Popsugar. After the film I was right next to Scrubs Alum Donald Faison and congratulated him on the announcement of the new baby.

What about the after-party?
The after-party was at Lure in Hollywood. That was pretty amazing – there were stars all over the place. The VIP section was filled with celebs – the cast plus Ashton Kutcher, Busy Phillips, and tons of others. Rachel Weisz was mingling amongst the guests on the main floor. Joey King (China Girl) and her BFF Emma Raimi, who is director Sam Raimi’s daughter, were hanging around and having fun with the guests too. She was very sweet! Funny, mature, and overall darling & sincerely grateful for being part of the film.
