Oh Boy, Here We Go! Potty Training the Twins!

by Carol on July 17, 2012

So.. here we go. It’s POTTY TIME…

My twins are heading fast toward 2 1/2 years old and we (I) have decided that it’s time to start introducing the potty. I want to have them totally potty trained by the time they hit 3 years old. Even though that seems like so far away it will be here before we know it!

I bought the Fisher Price Frog Potty and the Baby Bjorn Potty Chair, as well as a Diego Soft Potty Seat, just in case. I also have the  Little Looster’s Looster Booster so they can each pop up there on the grown-up potty. I’m set, right?

Except for one small detail. I have NO IDEA what I’m doing.

I have started putting them on the potties first thing in the morning. That’s what people tell me to do. Except they don’t tell me that my children simply will not go on their potties. They will site there for literally 45 minutes. We talk about it. They play with potty training apps on my phone. It’s all about the potty. But once we have all decided to give up they get up, get their little pull-ups on, and liske clockwork they pee. This has been going on for a solid 2 weeks.

Anyone have any suggestions? I’m sure there are some readers who have similar frustrations and we all would love to hear what works for you!

just give them time my grandson who will be 4 next month just got it. let them do it on their terms not yours otherwise it will backfire believe. before you know it they will be graduating high school and as everyone says they will not be wearing diapers to their graduation. you and the twins will do just fine (boys/girls)?

I have twin girls and I tried to train them at 2yrs but it was the same situation that you are having so after 2 wks. I gave up and went back to the diapers! I continue to talk to them about the potty chair and let them go with me to the potty! We moved and the next door little boy was their age and he was trained so as they began to play with him they started talking really well and I decided to try again when they were 2 1/2yrs old and it worked like a charm! One child never wet her pants and the other only wet 1 time during nap time! I felt like they really didn’t understand the first time I tried to train them! If they are good communicators with children I think they will understand! You have to wait till the child is ready not the parents! Best of Luck!

Thanks! My twins (boy/girl) seem to either really encourage each other or hold each other back.. I think I am going to need to give them a bit more time ;)
