I just wanted to message you about the free $25 in dog food deal on Amazon you posted about. I put an order in, but after a week, the order was cancelled without explanation. I left negative feedback for that seller and received this e-mail from them today…

SUBJECT: My Deepest Apologies
Dear Christopher,
Let me begin by saying that I am VERY sorry for the inconvenience and the disappointment that we caused by canceling your order. I believe you deserve an explanation.
My mother-in-law wanted to give a friend a $25 gift card to my online pet store, so we created a promotion that required a code for redemption. This promotion was supposed to be a private promotion, only for the friend that received the gift card. Erroneously the promotion was made public on Amazon.com, and everybody that purchased from my store and checked out with Amazon, was given the option of checking out with $25 in free product. Who wouldn’t accept a $25 gift card? In a span of less than 12 hours, that promotional code was used to check out with over $120,000 worth of pet supplies!
In the four years that we have been in business I can count on two hands the number of times I have canceled an order because of an error on our end. We ALWAYS try to work with our customers to get them the product that they ordered. Unfortunately, we cannot ship $120,000 of free product . We tried, but we weren’t able to cancel all of the orders in time, and we still ended up shipping over $30,000 in free product! We are a small business. This loss is devastating!
This error is clearly no fault of yours, and you deserve the sincerest apology. We tried to send this email immediately after we canceled the orders, but evidently some of them did not go through.
I definitely understand your frustration. If I was in your shoes, I would be frustrated too, and I certainly do not blame you for leaving a poor feedback rating. However, under the circumstances, I am wondering if there is any way that you would consider removing the poor feedback. This loss and the resulting feedback issues have crippled my business almost to the point of no recovery.
