Do you coupon? What is your method of organization?
If you are anything like me, you probably can’t stand those accordion coupon files. For me they are too small, totally inconvenient, and I find it so hard to dig for coupons while trying to calm one or both babies AND remember what I need from the grocery store. It was this very reason I stopped couponing for such a long time.

I was extremely lucky to receive The Coupon Binder to review! Seriously, the answer to my prayers! Before The Coupon Binder I *tried* to get organized, I really did. But I ended up with a bag full of coupons, totally unorganized, and it took me hours to get ready for a shopping trip. I didn’t know about sites like http://www.pinchingyourpennies.com/ that lay out the sales and how to get the best deals. Thanks to the document I discovered how to get organized and make my life easier.
The pages are all pre-labeled in the standard grocery store layout, so no fumbling with “where’s that pasta coupon?”.
Because I was so unorganized it took me a while to get my coupons in the binder. I just sat down at my dining room table and followed the directions of how to efficiently organize and file my coupons and I was done quicker than I thought. The Coupon Binder uses sorting mats to help with quick sorting. Genius, I tell you!
YES THIS IS HOW I NORMALLY SHOP!
Because I live less than a block from my local Safeway I often take a scenic walk with the kids rather than drive. I have to use the stroller anyway – they are too little for the “car” carts and I haven’t figured out the best way to get them both in a cart when I am shopping solo. Plus they hate being tightly strapped into the car, so I can loosely strap them into their carseats with no hysterics. So I have my Mommy Hooks and reusable shopping bags and I fill the bags as I go. The Coupon Binder fit perfectly on the stroller tray. Riley was in the seat closest to me, those are her feet peeking out! But she was not blocked like it looks in the picture!
So you can see that an accordion coupon file would be useless to me. With The Coupon Binder I flipped the pages as I went down the aisles and matched sales with my coupons. I also had a list of things I knew were on sale.
THIS is my receipt from that shopping trip! the total savings is a little misleading – I actually saved an addition $5 because I had one of those savings checks new moms constantly get in the mail from baby formula companies (shown as “credit/traveler”). So my actual savings was $89.10!!
This is what $180.80 worth of groceries looks like, but I only spent $91.70
There was a lot blocked, there were 44 total items.
A few of my best deals:
*5 packs of Ziploc bags – reg $4.49 each, $1.99 with my club card if you buy 5, plus $4.40 in coupons = $1.11 each! total savings = $16.90!
*Cheer 100oz laundry detergent reg $13.99, sale $9.99, with coupons (paper and e-coupon*) = $5.99! Savings of $8!
*Old Spice Deodorant reg $2.99 each, but I had a BOGO coupon and $3 in e-coupons* loaded on my card so = FREE!
I got a ton more deals too
And it was easy! If I had duplicate coupons I would have saved even more! On a side note the creator of The Coupon Binder is pregnant with twins! Yay!
UPDATE!
I just got back from my local Walgreens (8/26) and used The Coupon Binder and here’s what I saved:
$81.09!!! Actually $86.09 because I had a Similac $5 voucher (parents who use formula – get on the mailing list of formula companies and you will get a ton of these!) about a 65% savings! I only spent $46.87
Just had to share!!!
